April - Spring is in the Air, as well as me with a lot more travelling!!

Ok, so it has been over a month since I’ve updated and I feel as though you have missed some very important things! So here I am once more, after being extremely busy for the month, and a much longer update for you is needed on this blog. Which I have been almost too busy to update!!

Since the amazing time I had at ski camp I have been the little traveller girl.
On the 28th of March, I headed to Passau, a small town in Germany, right on the border of Austria, we went to the church, which, although incredible seem to me to be a little overdone! There are so many paintings, sculptures and gold things. It’s amazing.
All of the streets are cobble-stoned and narrow, giving the town its charm, and beauty. We were also lucky enough to find a cheap Belgium chocolate shop, which was great!
My day was made when I saw the boat, Krystalschiff, a beautiful ship with Swarovski Crystals decorating, inside and out.

I headed to Paris for a week with my school class on the 29th, I was so, so excited getting on the bus, although nervous of spending a week with my whole school year, a group of people I barely know.
The first day we saw some incredible place, such as the Arc de Triumphe, Eiffel Tower and Champs de Elsyees, and La Defense. As well as some other incredible places!
Paris is one of those cities that pictures do not give justice, it is about one-hundred times better in real life.
I saw a lot of tourist places that week, such as the Lourve, and I must say the Mona Lisa is not as impressive as I thought it would be, the Notre Dame and Moulin Rouge and Versailles.I don’t think that I could ever describe my incredible week in Paris, the hundreds of things I felt and saw, indescribable.
But one thing that I know for sure is that, I cannot believe my luck in being able to go on this trip with my school and how much I would love to return to Paris to explore some more! I literally took thousands of photos, (the beauty of digital camera) and had an incredible time. If you ever go to Paris I recommend eating a Banana and Nutella Crepe, sounds crazy I know, but tastes incredible!!
The Friday we returned to Austria was literally spent with me sleeping and eating after such an exhausting 5 days!
The end of Paris meant the beginning of the Easter holidays, and luckily for me, an early start to incredible spring weather, which means – NO MORE LAYERS!!!! It’s sad that the snow is gone but I am so glad that I am able to spend some more time outside. The first day of my holidays was spent on an amazing 25km, scenic bike ride to Eferding, which was followed by some delicious… wait for it… ICE-CREAM!!
It was a great day.
In the following few days I did various things from going with my host mum to pick up her new car, to heading to Linz, to the cinema to see ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (which may I say is a great movie and recommend you go see it)
The next few day’s I was kept very busy with my host family as we headed for a 2 day visit to Vienna, we arrived at midday, as it only take 2 hours by train, to meet up with a friend from Australia, Jonni, where we then went and dropped our gear off at our hostel. Which I have to say had an incredible view of Vienna, as it was on the hills just outside of the city.
Following that short trip we went to the themepark ‘Prater’, where unfortunately Jonni had to leave us but we met up with some more relatives of my host family which was great. The Prater is an incredible old themepark and I saw everything, from a beer-garden based on the streets of Vienna, to a Merry-go-round, with real horses.
That night we spent walking the ring road and doing touristy stuff, and the night ended with some delicious ice-cream by the Danube.
The next day was packed full of things to do such as going to the Sisi Museum, Kaiserappartements and Silberkammer at the Hofburg, and even a behind the scenes tour through the stables of the Spanish Riding School where the stunning Lippizaner are kept.
That afternoon was spent wandering the gardens at the Schoenbrunn with my host family. It was beautiful. That night we hopped on a train and headed back to Waizenkirchen for the next busy days for Easter.Friday was spent preparing for Easter, with decorating, both eggs and the house, and baking various Easter things.
On Saturday I woke to a beautiful sunny day where I got to search the garden for my Easter nest (a basket of easter eggs (real and choc) and treats) as well as my Easter presents.
The rest of the Easter weekend was spent travelling to various relatives to celebrate Easter with them, which also included receiving more Easter nests, as well as travelling to a local market, the ‘Schlafmarkt’, where in a traditional area had many locals wearing lederhosen and Dirndls!!
The last three days of my break were spent recovering from my crazy past two weeks and believing I put on a lot of weight from the amount of chocolate I ate!!!
School has continued as normal from then but one weekend, from the 17th-19th of April was spent on a weekend with my local Eferding Rotary club, in the Czech Republic where we toured local sites and museums and witnessed a beautiful concert. It is so strange for me to think that although we have only travelled 4 hours but the language and culture is so completely different!! We also spent a few hours of the Sunday in Bratislava where we managed to find handmade icecream for only 1 Euro and we wandered the beautiful city.
But for the next two weeks I am back to school as usual, and then I, your very own little traveller girl, is heading off on a three week tour of Europe with all the other Exchange Students. I believe it should be incredible and I cannot wait! Hopefully I will update you on that too, and a bit closer to when it happens!!

ANZAC day 2009- Lest We Forget.
